Pros
- Arran, Laphroaig, Bowmore for decent prices, I'd say grab 'm.
- arran! maybe 10 or quarter cask..great stuff.
- I do enjoy Arran and have a couple of their expressions on my shelf as we speak. Good recommendation!
- If you like arran at all I highly reccomend their port finish bottle it's very nice for the price.
- I had a dram of that arran on the isle of arran last year and I must say it was delicious
Cons
- And find Arran highly overrated and under mediocre in taste.
- I'm an Arran fan so i'll tell you that I haven't had a dram of one of their products which I wasn't happy with, especially with their great value for money.
- I remember trying this one years ago, and if my memory serves me right, this was decent, but not quite on the level of most Arrans. I do remember the 50% abv being surprisingly gentle on the palate and the whole thing having a pronounce...

where you go to VFM battles arran always takes the win
gotta give props to Arran for holding its own in this competition when it's an NAS bottle (prolly ~8yrs) vs the 20yr+ aged Bushmills. And of course the Arran costs less than 1/4 of the special edition Bushmills. So on value, Arran is clearly the winner.
Both are fantastic, with rich, bold flavors from the casks balanced well with the distillate, and both integrate the high ABV well to boost the flavor (not just add burn). The difference is in their “sensory attack profiles”—the Bushmills is more of a full frontal assault on your senses, while the Arran is more of a slow, warm, enveloping embrace.
And find Arran highly overrated and under mediocre in taste.
The Arran and the Dalwhinnie are good prices. Both are good but I’d lean toward the Arran IMO.
