Reddit take

AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

Apple Intelligence is currently met with widespread disappointment and skepticism, with many users describing it as an unfinished or "half-baked" product. While there are isolated reports of useful writing tools and improved dictation, the prevailing sentiment is that the service fails to live up to its marketing. Common complaints center on inaccurate notification summaries, perceived battery drain, and frustration over hardware requirements that exclude older but powerful devices.

Pros

  • Writing tools are described as useful and "formidable" for productivity by some users.
  • Dictation for text messages shows improved punctuation and tone detection for certain users.
  • Occasional positive feedback for the system's tone and "compliments."

Cons

  • Notification summaries are frequently inaccurate and can be dangerously misleading (e.g., misinterpreting medical news).
  • Reported negative impact on battery life, with users seeing improvements after disabling the feature.
  • Generative image features are criticized for "sloppification" and poor rendering of text.
  • Hardware gating is viewed as arbitrary, specifically the exclusion of the iPhone 14 Pro series.
  • Perceived as significantly behind competitors like Gemini or Grok.

Caveats

  • Users should not rely on AI-generated summaries for critical or sensitive information due to high error rates.
  • The service is widely regarded as being in an "unfinished" or "beta" state despite its public release.
  • Some users find the features so subtle or infrequent that they feel "nonexistent" in daily use.

Best for

  • Users primarily interested in AI-assisted grammar and writing tone adjustments.
  • Early adopters with iPhone 15 Pro or newer hardware who enjoy testing nascent features.

Avoid if

  • You rely on notification summaries for professional or medical accuracy.
  • You are experiencing battery life issues on compatible devices.
  • You expect a mature AI assistant on par with leading dedicated LLM platforms.

This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older (median age ~581 days), which may not reflect the most recent software updates for this fast-changing service.

Not worth to get Apple Intelligence yet . Wait 2026 for when their AI is fixed and it will be on Gemini /Grok levels.

J apprécie mon iPhone pour quelques raisons le côté intuitif ergonomique et quelques applications natives mais je trouve que iOS est en perte de vitesse, Apple Intelligence laisse vraiment à désirer.

you get the somewhat useless Apple Intelligence which allegedly will be upgraded in the spring with iOS 26.4 but we were also told it would be upgraded with iOS 18.4 so take that with a a grain of salt.

Apples AI is completely broken and barely usable so that might be what you are looking for.
