Pros
- There are browser extensions like Yomitan that do this, and I think you can set it up on Apple Books as well.
- Apple Books. You can use the jp-jp and jp-en iOS dictionaries in Apple Books.
- I made shortcut which automatically opens the book in Apple Books app by that reason I have started to read a lot of books
- It’s been great for reading books via the Kindle app and Apple Books 🏴☠️😉.
- I had no trouble reading the book in the Calibre e-book viewer and in Apple Books.
Cons
- I don't even use Apple Books for the same reason as Google Play - no physical purchase hub. Plus they angered me when I preordered a book and I had to talk with the author to fix the purchase because I wanted the preorder benefit, and it...
- Parent context: Wish there was an audiobook player that wasn’t too expensive. I love BookPlayer but don’t want to pay that much for a subscription just to not have to have my phone with me on a run. Apple Books only plays audiobooks if y...
- Chirp books, Libro.fm, audiobooks.com, Google Books or Apple books.
- the UX/UI of both AppleBooks and Kindle are too small and are not adjustable. She cannot see the icons to close the book, return to the the library to choose another book, the page numbers, etc. Navigating is impossible.

Parent context: Wish there was an audiobook player that wasn’t too expensive. I love BookPlayer but don’t want to pay that much for a subscription just to not have to have my phone with me on a run. Apple Books only plays audiobooks if you buy from Apple. Good grief. Reply: My only wish is that Libby creates a watch app at some point to listen to audiobooks, but I’m not holding my breath.

Apple Books treats PDF files the same way, figuring out Title, Author, and Cover, on it's own.
Apple Books is smart enough to do that on it's own. For one book it's not a big deal, but I buy Humble Book Bundles, so I'm adding 15 to 20 books at a time.
