If you like it I’d recommend Mistry’s A Fine Balance and Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina. Both have some elements of what I love from East of Eden.
I have recently bought a second copy of Anna Karenina, because I found the translation in danish better than the English translation. Mainly the translation to English names instead of keeping the Russian origin set me of.
I think anna karenina is a must read. Especially when kind of moving into more "adult" relationships.
