Ancillary Justice

I’ve found myself falling into a bit of a trap where the only things I’ve been reading lately is queer sci fi (go read Ancillary Justice)

Ancillary Justice is a modern sci-fi with really interesting gender/identity analysis and a focus on mystery/revenge. it is definitely inspired by The Left Hand Of Darkness. the MC is non-binary and the dominant culture is also non binary.

I'll also always recommend reading Yoon Ha Lee's Ninefox Gambit and Ann Leckie's Ancillary Justice in tandem.

This is the exact reason I really enjoyed the Imperial Radch Trilogy, starting with **Ancillary Justice**. The main character comes from a colonizing empire that has no real gendered pronouns, so everyone is "she", and the societal structure does not come from nuclear families, but houses, which means something rather different to the Radchaai.

In my opinion Ancillary Justice is similar from a top-down pov, with hard scifi and a protagonist who is living a new life after the intensity of their old job as basically ART, kind of.

Ancillary Justice is really interesting either as a standalone or the whole trilogy.

Also just finished Ann Leckie’s Ancillary Justice and thought the prose was fantastic.

I am currently reading Ancillary Justice.

So, it's more sci-fi, and i haven't read it so don't know for sure, but the book that came to mind is Ancillary Justice by Ann Lecke.
