All Creatures Great and Small and the others in that series. I thought it’d be sappy but it’s quite entertaining and educational partaking to life in that era. An oldie but a goodie

Got 25% of the way through, and frankly the beginning is followed pretty closely by the show, but still sweet. The story about having to put down a dog was a little much, but it never dwells too long on the sad or gross bits.

James Herriot’s All Creatures Great and Small. It is a memoir detailing a young veterinarian’s experiences as he treats animals in small towns and farms in (I think?) northern England. I found it very soothing when I was struggling a lot with depression.

All creatures great and small! Although it’s not set in London, it has a very similar educational and wholesome vibe and set in Yorkshire
