Pros
- Yes to book 4 Annihilation being out in paperback! I think it is called Absolution. It came out in October I think. I bought it as soon as it came out
- I just listened to Absolution yesterday, great record from a band that I don't really like most of their stuff.
- I did like it but need another read to piece it together a bit more.
- My impression is most people liked it. I definitely did.
- I felt like by the end it was welcome addition to the series.
Cons
- I was kinda disappointed by it unfortunately. VanderMeer made some creative choices that I just didn‘t vibe with at all.
- I loved the original trilogy but ended up DNF’ing this one in Lowrys section. I couldn’t understand what I was reading with all the fucks and decided I didn’t care enough to bother.
- Lowry's section is... something. I think i need to reread it because the writing style was so distracting. But, its maybe one of the better examples of the inner monologue of a coked out person I've read. Idk, I loved it as I've loved...
- Like I said in the title, this book was like a car crash. It was incredibly chaotic, often hard to follow, and incredibly convoluted, yet somehow I couldn't help myself from being captivated by it nonetheless.
- I guess I'll suck it up and just read Absolution to finish off Vandermeer's Southern Reach series. ... I can't seem to get into the 4th book.
