Yeah, I've exclusively used SG since 2019 and liked it a lot. I wish that the community features were a bit more integrated into things (I would like to save/like other peoples' reviews), but it's a small price to pay for staying off GR.
You might want to check out storygraph to look for books. You can filter for dark fantasy and they have content warnings for all books
I personally love everything about StoryGraph. I love how it doesn’t force it to be a social media app.
Personally, I like Storygraph's recommendations. I just go to my favourite book and check out "Browse similar books"
