AI summary — not a quote
Sleep on Latex (SOL) is a highly recommended brand within the DIY mattress community, primarily valued for its industry-leading return policy and high-quality Dunlop latex. Users frequently praise the brand's customer service and the build quality of their zippered covers. While the products are considered a great value, the feel of the latex is a point of contention; some users find it lacks the "cushiness" of other materials or find the firmness levels (even the "firm" models) to be softer than expected.
Pros
- Exceptional return policy: allows one free topper return per year with no shipping fees.
- High-quality construction, particularly noted for their zippered mattress covers.
- Competitive pricing, often cited as more affordable than sourcing certified layers from overseas.
- Excellent customer service and reliability for DIY mattress builders.
Cons
- Latex feel can be polarizing, with some users reporting issues with "pushback" or pressure points.
- Firmness levels can be misleading; some users found the "firm" mattress model too soft.
- The "soft" latex layers may lack the plush, "cushy" feel some sleepers expect from a top comfort layer.
- Latex components are notably heavy and difficult to move.

Sleep on Latex allows 1 topper to be returned per year for free, thats the best policy of them all though.
Sleep on Latex is the only one who doesnt charge you any fees and pays for shipping.
SOL's medium is roughly 34ILD but at 4.7lb density. It's more of a medium firm.
SOL medium is firm; their firm is extra-firm. You should take that in consideration.
2" of medium latex from e.g. Sleep on Latex or the Pocket Spring Store (also sells SoL) will be much more comfortable.

The main discount suppliers are Sleep on Latex, Arizona Premium, Latex mattress factory, and SleepEZ(A couple of those are sister companies as well).
SleepEZ or Arizona Premium Mattresses can help you.
i believe the benefit to the sleepez is it can be returned ?
Luckily I live in AZ where I was able to go to the SleepEZ showroom to try out a few of the latex builds. I probably spent like 30 minutes trying different firmness and dunlop/talalay combinations, and my favorite was 3 inch firm dunlop / 3 inch medium dunlop / 3 inch medium Talalay bottom to top.
Was looking at SleepEZ and considering that, but then started thinking if I'm going that far just go all the way for DIY.
