If you're talking FPS, you could try the DROP PC38X. They were developed with Sennheiser's then communication division.
560S are solid all around including gaming. Most things are better than 990. 38X is a little better for gaming in *some* ways but not enough to justify the switch imo, and 560S is better for music.

The Maxwell 2 is much stronger as an audio product. It has better clarity, cleaner separation, better vocal body, and much better bass quality. The bass is dense, punchy, cinematic, and controlled without making the whole sound feel clouded. Gaming cues come through fine.
As for other options, I can also recommend wireless options in that range. Typically a Maxwell 2, Nova Pro Omni or Stealth Pro 2 would be something to consider.
Another one that is often overlooked (some also had QC issues with it but I didn't) is Maxwell 2 for amazing sound quality, fast tight bass and wireless convenience.
I love my Maxwell 2 for music on the go.
Bass does not have the slam of Maxwell 2. It focuses more on speed and control than impact.
