I had both at the same time and preferred the 550 for gaming and music
the 490 is meant more for the studio while the 550 is meant for entertainment at home. My vote would be the 550 unless you want the metal headband setup of the 490.
If you get easily fatigued do not buy the DT900. The 550 is a much better option
