Just get a bog standard premier inn and spend the money you save on meals and going to places rather than somewhere you are going to sleep and nothing else.

Not sure of your hotel budget, but I’ve heard good things about Premier Inn. Rooms are tiny but you’ll barely be in the room anyway.

Look on Premier Inn/Travelodge/Ibis that are solid budget chain hotels.

Look on cheaper hotel chains like Premier Inn/Travelodge (UK) or Ibis/B&B Hotel (Paris) which are solid, unfussy places where you'll be able to save money.

I would choose the Connaught and book afternoon tea at Fortnums because I think it is better than Claridges.

Personally, I would prefer the Connaught for the bars and the location - it is at the end of a street with high end shops and restaurants.

Quiet, discrete location. Even more so than Claridge's it's set back from the main tourist throrough fares. ... Food/bars are excellent, top notch, with again not the same preciousness to have to cater to everyone and no one at the same time

The question is whether The Connaught becomes the group’s anchor for service, heritage and old-school hotel craft
