It’s one of my favorites. It’s so light for its size. I’ve considered picking up some of the newer versions with updated steels but this is such a dang trooper it’s hard to consider

I love the Miyoo mini plus and rg35xx as home consoles and the mini v4 as my pocket one currently

As long as you have the bios and roms this can play all the way back as far as arcade and as modern as playstation 1. Which I wouldn’t recommend higher on this as anyway it would lack some controls (it does have four shoulder buttons though).

AI summary — not a quote

The Nintendo Switch 2 is generally received as a successful, more powerful iteration of its predecessor, maintaining the hybrid form factor while improving ergonomics and performance. Users appreciate the larger 8-inch screen and the ability to seamlessly migrate libraries and profiles from the original Switch. However, the hardware is criticized for its return to an LCD display with larger bezels, and some users find the software experience and UI too similar to the first generation without enough new features.

Pros

  • Significant performance boost over the original Switch, including better frame rates in titles like Fortnite.
  • Improved ergonomics and joycon feel, making it more comfortable for extended handheld use.
  • Larger 8-inch screen and increased internal storage capacity.
  • Seamless migration of user profiles, settings, and game libraries from the original Switch.

Cons

  • Uses an LCD display instead of OLED, which some users find a step backward in visual quality.
  • Persistent retail shortages and reliance on waitlists or scalpers to acquire units.
  • Handheld performance is sometimes limited to 30fps due to aggressive downclocking compared to docked mode.
  • The UI remains plain and lacks long-requested features like themes.

Man they really done it and returned to larger bezels and an lcd-display (probably tn, hopefully ips/va/something).

Parent context: Yeah, that’s something I don’t like about the Switch 2. It’s too gray. The joycons should have more color, like the first Switch. Reply: Yeah, that’s something I don’t like about the Switch 2. It’s too gray. The joycons should have more color, like the first Switch.

Then I saw Hot Pursuit, the remastered version, for sale on the Switch 2. ... Immediately fun, wild action and actually challenging to get the Gold medals.

the supply in Japan has been ridiculously limited. You still cannot walk into a store and buy a Switch 2 off the shelf, six months after it allegedly released.
