KTC is positioned as a high-value budget brand in the monitor market, frequently cited for offering high-end features like Mini-LED, HVA panels, and high refresh rates (up to 300Hz) at prices significantly lower than established brands. While the panel performance is often praised as being superior to standard IPS or VA options in its price bracket, the brand is heavily criticized for poor quality control and lackluster customer support. Users frequently report issues with dead pixels and difficult warranty processes, leading to a consensus that these monitors are best purchased through retailers with reliable return policies.

Pros

  • Exceptional value for money, often providing specs that rival brands at double the price.
  • Strong performance in HDR and black levels, particularly with their Mini-LED and HVA panel offerings.
  • High refresh rates (180Hz to 300Hz) available at budget-friendly price points.
  • HVA panels are noted for being faster with less smearing than traditional VA panels.

Cons

  • Frequent reports of quality control issues, specifically dead or discolored pixels.
  • Poor customer service and difficult warranty fulfillment processes.
  • Mixed reliability, with some users reporting hardware failures within 2 to 6 months.
  • HDR400 implementation on certain budget models is described as a gimmick.

AOC, TCL and KTC offer superb value for money. What they offer can usually easily outperform a more established brand's offering at double the price.

LG is a major brand with a polarized reputation across its diverse product lines. In the television market, it is highly regarded for its WOLED technology, superior motion processing, and support for industry standards like Dolby Vision. Its appliances are frequently cited for having a mature service network with widely available spare parts, though some users raise concerns about specific hardware durability, such as plastic compressor components. Recently, the brand has faced significant backlash on Reddit regarding privacy, with many users citing concerns over data collection, "spyware" in smart features, and integrated advertisements in TV interfaces. Additionally, while LG has exited the mobile market, its legacy V-series smartphones remain highly praised by audiophiles for their high-quality headphone jacks and Quad DACs.

Pros

  • Industry-leading WOLED panels and Dolby Vision support for TVs
  • Superior motion processing for sports and nature content
  • Extensive service network with widely available spare parts and local repairability
  • Legacy smartphones (V-series) are highly valued for high-end audio features like the Quad DAC and headphone jack

Cons

  • Significant privacy concerns regarding data collection and "spyware" in smart TVs and monitors
  • Integrated advertisements and promotional banners within the TV home screen
  • Reports of appliances failing shortly after the warranty period expires
  • Use of plastic pistons in refrigerator compressors where competitors may use metal

Don't get the LG ones. They break after the warranty expires and gave me such a hassle trying to have it fix.

Sometimes I use Poweramp on the V20 but I mostly use the Retro Nano's onboard EQ which I configure either using the browser or the app (they're finnicky but they're okay I guess... you can save up to 3 custom profiles on it)
