AI summary — not a quote

Hydrocolloid patches are highly regarded as an effective tool for managing surface-level acne, particularly whiteheads and pustules. They function by absorbing fluid and pus while creating a protective physical barrier that prevents skin picking and external irritation. While many users find them to be "life savers" for speeding up healing, they are generally viewed as a reactive treatment for individual spots rather than a preventative solution for underlying acne causes.

Pros

  • Effectively draws out fluid and "gunk" from whiteheads overnight
  • Acts as a physical barrier to prevent picking and touching
  • Speeds up the healing process for superficial wounds and popped pimples
  • Generic hydrocolloid blister bandages can be cut to size as a cost-effective alternative

Cons

  • Some products marketed as 'pimple patches' are merely plastic stickers without active hydrocolloid material
  • May cause irritation or pigmentation issues for certain skin types
  • Poor adhesion when applied over moisturizers, oils, or heavy skincare products
  • Can occasionally lead to deeper wounds or scarring if used on the wrong type of blemish

Then either apply a pimple patch for 24 hours or some benzoyl peroxide gel. And wait. Patience is key.

Google suggested hydrocolloid bandages. Holy fuck! Life savers. Absorbing general weepiness/blistering but also protecting the burns really well from friction and keeping me in a lot less pain. I’m wearing 12, presently lol. Anyways, if anyone is ever in a similar situation this has been a great solution!

Then dry it off and put a hydrocolloid bandage on it. That will drain it. The cheap ish CVS ones work very well and you can cut them down to size so that you can end up using one bandage on a small spot probably four times.

Ooh yeah a pimple patch! Or just generic hydrocolloid dressings you can cut to size (that’s really all pimple patches are, some companies add extra stuff).

Noscarna Gel is highly regarded by Reddit users as an effective pharmacy-grade treatment for post-acne scarring, redness (PIE), and uneven skin texture. It is frequently cited as a staple purchase from South Korean pharmacies, often used in a two-step routine alongside Acnon Cream to transition from treating active breakouts to healing the resulting marks.

Pros

  • Effectively fades red post-acne marks (PIE) and dark spots
  • Helps flatten and smooth the texture of old acne scars
  • Described as surprisingly gentle and non-irritating
  • Works well as a targeted spot treatment for lingering redness

While I was there, the pharmacist recommended Noscarna Gel for my old acne scars and Melatoning Cream (2% hydroquinone) for dark spots. They've been working really well for me.

When I was dealing with persistent post-acne texture, I picked up Noscarna Gel and Acnon Cream from a pharmacy in Seoul (Dong-A Pharmaceutical makes them). Acnon is for active spots, but Noscarna is specifically for flattening out scars and texture left behind.

I also grabbed the Re-An PDRN Eye Drops and Noscarna Gel for some old acne scars.

For the red post-acne marks (PIE), something like Noscarna Gel is super popular in Korea. It’s a spot treatment specifically for scars and marks.
