Parent context: Honda Fit Reply: Those are excellent cars. Not pretty and built cheaply, but they run absolutely forever

I came across this Honda fit described in the title and it feels like a really good deal for a reliable car I could own for a long time.

maybe a honda fit would be a good alternative since you could get a newer model and they have a lot of space.

AI summary — not a quote

The Mazda 6 is widely regarded by owners and enthusiasts as a refined, reliable, and 'sporty' alternative to mainstream midsize sedans like the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. It is frequently praised for its superior handling, build quality, and premium interior feel, though it is often noted as having 'outdated' technology compared to newer competitors. Despite being discontinued in several markets, it remains a highly recommended choice for those who prioritize driving dynamics and aesthetic appeal over the latest infotainment features.

Pros

  • Excellent handling and 'zippy' driving dynamics for a midsize sedan
  • High-quality interior refinement and build quality, especially in higher trims
  • Strong long-term reliability with regular maintenance
  • Timeless and attractive exterior styling

Cons

  • Infotainment and cabin technology feel outdated compared to newer rivals
  • Base variants may lack modern features like adaptive cruise control or leather seats
  • Maintenance costs can be slightly higher than some Japanese competitors
  • Lack of an AWD turbo option which some enthusiasts desire

I really like Mazda. I used to have a 6 and it was great. I think it might be underrated here.

Mazda 6 is also something solid to look at.

Depending on the safety tech features you want a new Mazda 6 would be a good choice. The top trim was around 104k a few months ago. Maybe it’s cheaper now. It’s a got a robust 2.5 litre engine which as enough power and it’s easily the best looking sedan out there.
