A heat pump water heater will be more energy efficient in 100% of cases because physics is as of yet undefeated

Parent context: I would not get tankless or heat pump in the North East - they are not ready to deal with incoming water that is as cold as it will be in the winter. Give the technology some time to improve, but right now it's not there. Reply: mine works great in Maine for 3 years now

I’ve got a heat pump water heater in Massachusetts and it works great. It uses 2 KWH per day.

I set it only to use heat pump mode and it works fine.

I have one and love it, had it for 6 years, zero issues. On average it uses 775kwh each year in our 3 person household. Lives in the basement, dehumidifies the space somewhat.

The ODU PCB is gone after just 4 months which is rare. The ODU is noisy too. Newer panasonic units do not seem to have the same level of quality check as earlier units.

Please please please dont buy AC from Panasonic. I bought 3 AC and all of them lost gas within 1.5 years. 1 of them - cooling coil got bad. Panasonic has the worst customer support. Dont buy it 🙏🏻❌

About 8 years ago, I recommended a Panasonic AC to my sister. The AC worked flawlessly for all these years

Especially with the panasonic one, I can comment. Its the installation service that is bringing the overall review down. As for the product and cooling, I havent seen many negative reviews.
