AMD is currently positioned as a top-tier choice for gaming CPUs, praised for its power efficiency and long-term platform support. However, its GPU division (Radeon) remains a polarizing value-oriented alternative to Nvidia. While users appreciate the lower price points and generous VRAM on Radeon cards, they frequently report trade-offs in software stability, raytracing performance, and upscaling quality (FSR).

Pros

  • Excellent platform longevity, with AM5 socket support confirmed through 2028
  • High CPU performance-to-price ratio, particularly for gaming-focused builds
  • Superior power and thermal efficiency in laptop and mobile configurations
  • Generous VRAM allocation on mid-to-high-end GPUs compared to competitors

Cons

  • Persistent reports of driver instability, including timeouts and random setting resets
  • Subpar software ecosystem compared to Nvidia, specifically regarding FSR quality and streaming codecs
  • Lack of CUDA support makes it less ideal for many professional production and AI workloads
  • Raytracing performance generally lags behind equivalent Nvidia hardware

Everyone will just buy AMD and it's only a matter of time before Intel finally Intel finally makes a flagahip on par with amd's next flagship if nvidia decides to release a new desktop GPU after it pops theyre on notice.

If AMD flooded the market with similar 12gb GPUs that were even 75%-80% of the performance of Nvidia gpus for even a 20-25% lower price difference, I bet you the general gamer population on PC would shift just because it’s affordable and available.

AMD superglues more than enough Vram than any of their cards will ever need/use.

Any modern CPU by either AMD or Intel will handle everything you throw at it just fine. Pick whichever one is cheaper between those two. I guarantee you won't feel a real world difference between them.

AI summary — not a quote

The Apple M4 chip is highly regarded as a significant performance and efficiency leap, particularly for users upgrading from M1 or Intel-based systems. While enthusiasts praise its improved GPU architecture for gaming and its potential for long-term use, some note that the performance gains over the M2 may feel marginal for basic productivity tasks like web browsing or Excel.

Pros

  • Noticeable performance boost over M1 and M2 chips
  • Improved GPU architecture provides a better experience for gaming
  • High power efficiency compared to earlier generations
  • Strong value proposition when found at sale prices (frequently cited around $750-$800)

Cons

  • Hardware is not upgradeable, requiring high upfront costs for RAM and storage
  • Heavy researchers or video editors can still face memory pressure even with 24GB RAM
  • Physical chassis/screen may be sensitive to pressure or certain third-party cases
  • Incremental improvements over M2 for non-intensive tasks

Comes up as $599 for me, but for the $150 I may as well just buy the newest one with the M4
