Pros

  • I have coax into my place from Xfinity and have an app to check my modem and service and all.
  • We get our 2 phones through Xfinity for $25
  • We have Xfinity mostly because we like to record shows and watch them on our time.
  • "Xfinity" (Comcast) combo cablemodem/routers have a MoCa adapter built in that ties back to the same coax port the modem side connects to.
  • My parents have Xfinity, which I’m planning on getting. I checked the FCC Broadband Map and double checked with ChatGPT, and for my area, that’s the best option, bar none.

Cons

  • My ISP (Xfinity) said my router was outdated, so I upgraded to an ASUS ZenWiFi AX mesh system with two nodes. ... Xfinity now says I have too many devices and need to upgrade my plan, while ASUS says the issue is with the ISP.
  • I pay Comcast/Xfinity separately and have the option of going with AT&T but seeing as they doesn’t have a better deal (at least the last time I checked) I figured I’d stick with the devil I know.
  • Not one outage on fiber in two years whereas weekly on xfinity.
  • My plan with Xfinity is 700/50. It’s not much when it comes to upload but I’m barely making it to 5-10Mbps and this is connecting directly to the modem.
  • I currently have Xfinity (hate it)... I have had billing issues with them and was being charged for data overages when I had added the unlimited data nearly a year prior, and it was removed. It was a lot of back and forth despite me havi...

I currently have Xfinity (hate it)... I have had billing issues with them and was being charged for data overages when I had added the unlimited data nearly a year prior, and it was removed. It was a lot of back and forth despite me having the literal proof. There are also a lot of outages in my area compared to past homes I have had them in.

After switching from Xfinity to fiber internet I don't think we've had one outage. Xfinity went out all the time. The speeds are higher, especially upload speeds. I haven't had to reset the modem a single time unlike Xfinity.

Xfinity does not work without power. They have little boxes in your neighborhood that are have battery back-up - once the battery back-up goes, so will your Xfinity.
