Pros
- for the general wine drinker, someone who buys a bottle from a store and drinks it within a few weeks or months, Vivino is going to be the much more intuitive app.
- Nevertheless, I still find it’s the best app for logging my collection, seeing a quick snapshot of likely levels of tannins etc and a much more user-friendly interface (and wider database) than competitors like CellarTracker
- Just looked one up on Vivino… a strong 4.6!! Definitely have to check it out!!
- I use Vivino to track the wines that I have had; often refer to their reviews, as well.
- Download the the vivino app and take pictures of everything you can afford and find the highest rated wines - sparkling, white and red.
Cons
- My process when I look at LB is to check Vivino and then Wine-Searcher.
- Vivino scores are almost pure noise.
- Vivino seems very commercial driven. It looks to me it wants you to buy wine from their advertisers.
- I think the scores can be very misleading and I regularly see reviews for entirely different wines, so I’m not sure how accurate the app is. I use it to understand what I’m drinking, region, grape and sometimes basic tasting notes, but I...
- I would never use the ratings on vivino to guide my purchasing!

I think the scores can be very misleading and I regularly see reviews for entirely different wines, so I’m not sure how accurate the app is. I use it to understand what I’m drinking, region, grape and sometimes basic tasting notes, but I don’t put a lot of stock into the star rating.

Vivino has a much larger userbase and accordingly the wine ratings reflect the more general viewpoint informed by outside factors like cost and paid-for reviews.
Vivino is more widely used and the variance/reliability of scores (yes it’s also subjective) is less consistent.
