I was able to test ride the Trek and I did like it.
People hate that trek make good bikes that aren’t “cool”. I get they’re a conglomerate these days and consolidation of business the way they have done isn’t great for the industry but… they’re still great bikes. 10/10 would rather have a Trek than a hipshit Standert.
have rented and ridden a brand new Trek (I forget the model, but it was all carbon and had Shimano 105- the brifters were uncomfortable.) These newer bikes worked really well, and obviously have better tech, but the ride felt dead to me.
Pretty soon there will only be concept stores from Trek, Specialized and Ari in a few major cities.
REI if you’re a member, otherwise the big corporate owned bike shops (Trek, Pon, Specialized) also tend to have trade in/trade up programs on kids bikes.

It’s worth something, it’s a quality bike and old Treks have a bit of a following.

Yes, Cube doesn't have the cachet of Specialized, and their paintwork is maybe a step below specialized or trek, but these days their value is very hard to beat.
I think Trek are worse value relative to other brands now than they were then. At the bottom of the range, some bikes have also gone downhill in quality vs back then
