Pros

  • Currently I use the ER605. I have really liked it.
  • Parent context: I also have EAP245 together with ER605, OC200 and SG2008P. Fast Roaming works on both 2.4 and 5GHz bands, no issues. Reply: Fast Roaming works on both 2.4 and 5GHz bands, no issues.
  • I have ER605, OC200, 2x SG2008P and 2x EAP245. ... Haven't had any issues with any of my clients
  • I have an ER605 v1 and TP-Link switch TL-SG2210P, OC200 controller and EAP-610. I have been using it for the last two years and I never had any issues.

Cons

  • I've found these devices can take absolutely ages to boot sometimes, as in 10 minutes plus.
  • As the title says, I’m getting around 600 Mbps on a PC and MacBook that are plugged into my Office switch. I have 6× 4K cameras connected through the Attic switch, constantly streaming to a server that’s connected directly to my ER605 ro...
  • With the 605 if you run the recommended IDS/IPS you will slow your internet down to about 200mbps. The 605 is old and doesn’t have the cpu to handle high bandwidth traffic.
  • The ER605 supports gigabit speed so if you’ve got anything over 1 gigabit from your ISP it will wasted.
  • All my router settings are default only thing i configured in er605 is load balancing. Yes i did put a switch in between 1 gbps port but still stuttering.

As the title says, I’m getting around 600 Mbps on a PC and MacBook that are plugged into my Office switch. I have 6× 4K cameras connected through the Attic switch, constantly streaming to a server that’s connected directly to my ER605 router. When I turn off the NVR software (Scrypted), I get around 700 Mbps, but it’s still nowhere near the ~920 Mbps I used to get using my ISP’s stock router.

Parent context: I am setting up a wifi solution for a campground, and I want every site to have their own isolated LAN instead of using guest networks. It's not complicated at all, I'm more concerned with an ER605 not being able to handle it. Reply: But either way bold move running it on an ER605.

I wouldn't use that one. I'd be aiming for an ER7412 or larger to ensure there are little to no issues with throughput and CPU power.
