- I read a short ARC of the first five chapters and found myself totally overwhelmed with emotion, working my way through the whole thing now. Highly recommend!
- My favorite book of the year!
- I'm 800ish pages in and have already experienced so many emotions. The prose is almost like I'm sitting at a bar listening to someone tell me a story... I'm confident this will land within my top 5 favorite books of 2025
- I'm 150 pages in and I'm really loving it so far! It feels so grand and epic with the way the story is written and all the events taking place makes the story feel like some ancient folklore being told to you over a campfire
Cons
- Parent context: I gave Tom's Crossing a serious effort at release, but after about 100 pages I decided that it's just not for me, for whatever reason. Reply: So did I. This might be the heaviest book I've ever owned . . and it's not even...

I'm about 950 pages in and it's one of my favorite things I've read in a long time. It's not experimental in the same way HoL is, but he's definitely doing something interesting with the narration
It's a staggering work. A massive chonker. And maybe one of the best books I ever read.

Parent context: Looks like his new one comes out Oct 28th. Here’s the blurb from his publisher- doesn’t look like it’s billed as horror but literary fiction: *While folks still like to focus on the crimes that shocked the small city of Orvop, Utah... Reply: I’ve read this and it’s spectacular.
