Pros
- many of the European dress shoe makers make wider MTOs (e.g. TLB Mallorca, Carmina on some lasts, Edward Green, ...)
- I wasn’t aware TLB has customs and that it’s pretty much a steal at that price.
- Best shoe you can buy. Try TLB Mallorca as well. I have both and they have served me well.
- Parent context: Ah I’m seeing the difference. Definitely the TLB Mallorca! I’m thinking simple, timeless. So no brogueing, but style with sharper angles and letting the leather speak for itself mostly. Reply: Is TLB Mallorca a good brand...
- Especially TLB Mallorca‘s MTO program should make it possible for you to get a nicely fitting boot in an F or G width on a sleek last.
Cons
- I was browsing TLB Mallorca shoes yesterday and found one review from a customer about how the shoe didn't have any hidden metal eyelets. According to them, the laces just being in content with the leather itself would shorten the lifesp...

I think C&J‘s solework is rather disappointing for the price, especially when you compare it to cheaper brands like TLB Mallorca, Meermin Maestro or even similarly priced like Paul Sargent.
Maybe look into C&J or other European shoemakers like Carmina, TLB Mallorca and so on..
You can find similar stuff of better quality at Crockett & Jones, Carmina or TLB Mallorca, for example.
Parent context: Hmm I own shoes from CJ, TLB Mallorca, Skolyx, and Vass so I can only speak for those. I must say the TLB Mallorca shoes offer better craftsmanship (slimmer waist, higher spi, better lasted) compared to the CJs I own, but I can't give a long-term review, so how does the lining hold up.
