Some French artists that I’ve enjoyed over the years are Yelle, Kalika, La Grande Dame, Claire Laffut, Yseult, L’impératrice, and Stromae.

As someone also learning french Stromae is a really great french artist to start with, his albums Racine Carée et Multitude have no skips his music is very electro-dance pop and he’s very artistic and unique sense of style.
