Pros

  • What's wrong with Signal? it is THE default alternative for whatsapp.
  • the clear winner is Signal, open sourced, privacy focused, many people know it.
  • For everyday communication, you can also use VoIP (internet calling) apps like WhatsApp, or more privacy-focused apps like Signal.
  • Signal
  • Fast, fully encrypted messaging that respects privacy.

Cons

  • For signal, i tried several times and did not receive any verification code,so I'm not going with that.
  • Signal ditched sms compatibility a couple years ago. No asking all your contacts to use it isn't feasible. I have been trying for years lol.
  • Parent context: I still prefer Signal Reply: Just wish it wasn't so difficult to get others to join
  • I have signal, but few people I talk to have it as well.

Personally, because of this unless you're going to move to something much more secure like Signal I wish all the 3rd party SMS/MMS apps would die so we could all enjoy E2EE between each other.

I'm just gonna use signal and if people don't want to install it they can text me on SMS using fossify.

if you don't care about that and want some other chat app that's more secure and private than Google Messages, I recommend Signal.
