Schott pea coats are what you're looking for. I own one and it looks absolutely incredible. They adjust sleeves etc to fit your measurements if I remember right.
I almost did what you did but ended up getting something from Schott.
But I really do think Schott is the BIFL type of leather jacket you want to own.
