First half was up there with the best SK ive read. Then the main character inexplicably sleeps with a 22 year old and the antagonist becomes a cartoon.
I think its his worst ending of all the Stephen King books ive read. I know your opinion is the popular one. I just dont get the hype at all, it feels like the whole internet is playing a big joke on me talking up the ending.
I think it's his best ending. it won't leave my mind and I read it 2 years ago.
Revival is a great example of it. So much of it feels easy and natural, like you're just along for the read/reading/listening to folk and not actively reading a novel, that it's very easy to get sucked in and when stuff gets gnarly, it really hits.
I love Revival, I think it's my favourite post-2000 King and definitely in my top five of his books overall.
David Morse excellently narrates the audiobook for it. It really feels like someone telling you their life story
Some of the best characterization of any book I have ever read. I felt like I knew the main character personally and grew up with him
Why is this not considered one of his great books? It’s a slow burn but done through some of Kings best story telling. It reminded me a bit of the The Fisherman by John Langen, (in tone not in story). Definite 5 star
