AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

Reschio is a highly acclaimed luxury hotel located in a 1000-year-old castle on the border of Umbria and Tuscany, frequently described as a "11/10" property that transports guests back in time. While it is celebrated for its stunning architecture, world-class pools, and exceptional service, recent feedback indicates significant price increases and a shift in family policies that restricts younger children from the main castle area.

Pros

  • Immersive historic atmosphere that provides a unique 'sense of place'.
  • Exceptional hard product and design, including a famous outdoor pool and a worthwhile underground spa.
  • High-level service and management, noted for being attentive and accommodating during special occasions like honeymoons.
  • Excellent on-site activities, particularly horseback riding and scenic biking/walking trails.
  • Beautiful bar area with a highly recommended happy hour.

Cons

  • Guest rooms can be extremely dark, making it difficult to perform tasks like applying makeup.
  • Mixed reviews regarding dinner quality at the on-site restaurants, coupled with a lack of nearby dining alternatives.
  • Significant price hikes, with reports of rates rising from under €1,000 to over €3,000 per night in high season.
  • Castle rooms are noted to be smaller than those at some competing luxury properties.

Caveats

  • New policy changes have reportedly restricted the main castle portion to older children only, which may frustrate families who previously enjoyed the property.
  • The pool is described as cold by some, though aesthetically stunning.

Best for

  • Couples and honeymooners seeking a romantic, historic retreat.
  • Horse lovers and equestrian enthusiasts.
  • Travelers who prioritize unique architecture and high-end design over modern room lighting.

Avoid if

  • Traveling with young children (due to new castle age restrictions).
  • You require bright, well-lit accommodations.
  • You are looking for a destination with a wide variety of off-site dining options in the immediate vicinity.

Reschio felt a bit influencer heavy, which turned us off.

Most top hotels have someone they recommend or exclusively work with (my experience at Passalaqua, Reschio, Airelles and Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc)

Or else we've had people take out a number of homes at Reschio but depending on what your group purpose is, they are either a fan of or not.

Very few hotels in Italy have a stable and their horses are gorgeous. I visited the stables and can tell that the hotel takes very good care of them... They have a much wider range of activities to do than the auberge in Florence and rosewood CdB.

I was at Reschio of 4 nights last summer. I liked, didn’t love it. I don’t know if I would plan a whole vacation around it. The hard product is A+++. They did an amazing job with it. Food/bev program is just ok. Also, their horseback riding program is amazing.

I beg you to visit Reschio as it is a very special and unique property. You can feel the love and patience that went into staffing and developing the property. The castello courtyard, bathhouse and the pool are all prettier than the viral Instagram photos.
