Parent context: Rakuten is notorious for not crediting award points. Reply: Have had zero issues with this. People just need to disable their ad blockers when using it. I use a separate browser just for shopping that has no Adblock and has the Rakuten extension and I’m up to $2000+ lifetime in rewards.
The only problem I have with Rakuten is that I have to go back on 90% of my purchases and re-apply for missing points. It never seems to track for me regardless of which browser I use. 0 restaurants have automatically tracked for me so far this year.
Start by opening a NISA account this month and putting even ¥10,000/month into a simple global index fund (like an All Country fund) - it’s Japan’s tax-free investment program, takes 20 minutes to set up online through any major Japanese broker - like SBI Securities or Rakuten, requires zero trading knowledge, and lets the weak yen actually work FOR you since your money buys foreign assets that gain value as the yen stays weak.

Amex gives me access to Rakuten for earnings points through shopping. I know CapitalOne gives extra miles for shopping too, but Rakuten is far easier to use(ex Chrome plugin) than CapitalOne.
As I understand, I can link my other cards and get BILT points when I swipe those just like I do with Rakuten.
I haven’t heard much about how Rakuten handles things, but I really love how they integrate Amex MR points
