Pros

  • The pyrex items are tempered glass. The beer bottles are tempered in the same way as pyrex, but they have some degree of tempering to remove flaws and weakness that remain in cheaply-manufactured, clear, water bottles.
  • Pyrex is so great you can use it for so many types of dishes. For example I use it to bake Cantonese fish, or a one large oven baked frittata. And on the stove I use it for French & Italian sauté dishes and casseroles. Multiple functions...
  • Pyrex all the way!
  • I use pyrex, silicone lids are an option, those are nice. But for the squares I use plastic lids, food doesn't touch them and they've lasted me a long time even with the dishwasher. plus if you do manage to break or lose one they are r...
  • Pyrex with silicon lids.

Cons

  • Pyrex/anchor chipping after 7-8 years is normal. just get more pyrex
  • I keep seeing so many opposite opinions on Pyrex and I’m not sure what else is out there.
  • UM ACKSHUALLY THEY CHANGED TO SODA LIME GLASS SO ITS WORTHLESS ITS WORTHLESS YOU CANNOT USE IT AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
  • But they've cut corners like the non-borosilicate PYREX, so if I see it for $18.97 maybe i'll grab it.
  • I can say for Pyrex, their lids absolutely suck. I'm not super harsh on mine and I've had several of the lids break.

I use pyrex, silicone lids are an option, those are nice. But for the squares I use plastic lids, food doesn't touch them and they've lasted me a long time even with the dishwasher. plus if you do manage to break or lose one they are replaceable. I'm really happy with them esp since they double as small baking dishes, or to bake and just put a lid on the leftovers, or reheat the leftovers in the oven.
