Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
Peacock is primarily valued by users for its sports coverage, particularly high-profile events like the Olympics and Premier League soccer. While some users praise the 4K stream quality as 'fantastic' and 'natural,' the service is frequently criticized for technical inconsistencies. Common complaints include broken HDR/Dolby Vision support on native smart TV apps, frame rate matching issues, and occasional buffering or audio desync.
Pros
- High-quality 4K streams for major sporting events like the Olympics.
- Preferred source for live Premier League soccer in the U.S.
- Picture quality is described by some as more 'natural' than competing services.
Cons
- Native smart TV apps (specifically on TCL) often fail to trigger HDR or Dolby Vision.
- Android TV app is reported to occasionally default to low-quality SDR streams.
- Technical glitches including stuttering, pixelation in 4K sports, and audio desync.
- Lack of 3D film support for Apple Vision Pro users.
- Broken frame rate matching on several hardware devices.
Caveats
- Performance appears to vary significantly depending on the device; native TV apps are generally rated lower than external streaming hardware.
- Some users report that 4K sports content can suffer from pixelation and stuttering despite high-speed connections.
Best for
- Sports fans, especially those following the Premier League or Olympic Games.
- Users who prefer a more natural image profile for 4K content.
Avoid if
- You rely exclusively on native smart TV apps for HDR/Dolby Vision playback.
- You are sensitive to frame rate mismatches or audio-to-video desynchronization.
- You are looking for 3D content on the Apple Vision Pro.

Peacock has been great too.
for sports turn off motion, use YTTV 4k, or peacock, fox sports one app.
Some of those 4k streams like on Peacock or FS1 look fantastic.
So far I've noticed it on Peacock and YouTube, but it's not there on Prime Video football
To critique, I have a few issues with some apps (mostly Max and Peacock) that suddenly pause, buffer, or desync audio.
To me peacock looks wayyyy better. Its more natural.
At least to my eye, Peacock has pretty poor video quality. Almost as bad as Paramount Plus.
Peacock on Android TV can be pretty bad it will stream low quality SDR.
For what it's worth, Peacock massively scaled up for the 2024 Olympics and all of that effort still shows. Everything there looks and sounds great.
Peacock does not support 3D films.
