AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

One&Only Mandarina is a highly polarizing luxury resort where a world-class "hard product"—including stunning jungle architecture and exceptional villas—frequently clashes with significant service and logistical inconsistencies. While many guests are captivated by the lush setting and top-tier amenities like the spa and kids club, others report that staffing issues and a failing internal transportation system can severely detract from the experience.

Pros

  • Stunning architectural design and high-quality room finishes
  • Lush, "jaw-dropping" jungle setting with high levels of privacy
  • Excellent kids club featuring an active treehouse
  • Top-tier spa and healing treatments
  • Calm, swimmable water at Jetty Beach

Cons

  • Unreliable buggy/golf cart transport system with frequent long wait times
  • Inconsistent service levels, particularly at the beach and pool
  • Occasional technical glitches with room lighting, WiFi, and phones
  • Presence of jungle wildlife (scorpions, spiders, crabs) inside guest areas

Caveats

  • Buggy delays are a recurring theme and can cause guests to miss spa or dining reservations
  • Service quality may decline significantly when the resort is hosting large events like weddings
  • The property is described as "love it or hate it" due to the gap between its aesthetic beauty and operational execution

Best for

  • Travelers prioritizing aesthetics and unique architecture
  • Families seeking a high-end kids club
  • Those looking for a private, adventurous jungle atmosphere

Avoid if

  • You have low patience for logistical delays or unreliable transportation
  • You expect flawless service consistency at a high price point
  • You are sensitive to insects and local wildlife

It's not just the buggies Sarah, this property has a great hard product but documented service issues. ... We loved the property, loved the breakfast, views, and had a great time there....

The wait times are unacceptable especially when you need to be on time for things like spa reservations. This place is a mess, would never go back.

The property doesn’t live up to the high standards of its brand. It seems that the entire O&O complex is facing significant staffing issues.

I think waiting for a buggy is fine but what annoyed us was that our host and other staff would tell us that a buggy will be there in 10 minutes but actually wouldn’t be there in even 20 minutes. This happened 4 times to us during the stay.

The property is lovely, kids club is great and spa is amazing but the buggies amongst a few other issues were the biggest let down of the place.

I wouldn’t go back if I expected to have those issues again (even for one night), but somehow I feel it was more of a one-time issue (everything was connected to the main system having issues). Everything else was great.

Overall my stay was lovely with one exception: one noght all of the room lights came on 4 times and another night the pool was pulling air and making loud noises all night. Wifi and phones were down both of those jights as well. We slept terribly 2 out of 4 nights.

I absolutely loved this stay. The surroundings made it feel intimate and magical, and having the right group of friends really took the experience to the next level.

Just finished an amazing 40th birthday party at O&O Mandarina in private home 8. ... The short review is: Amazing location to spend time with friends. (Also great for families - kids club treehouse is back and active, no more termite damage). Amazing sand at Jetty Beach for a great beach day. ... Private homes = great privacy to host events without being around others. Spa = one of the most healing spas with lots of great choices over the usual massage/facial.
