Pros

  • I've fallen for ESBs and other similar British beers after a trip to the UK. Stuff like Landlord, Old Speckled Hen, Greene King Abbot, etc. They're super easy to drink
  • Bass is a bitter/English Pale ale so maybe try a Fuller's London Pride, Sam Smiths Pale ale or Old Speckled Hen if you can find it
  • I would get an English ale such as old speckled hen or Samuel Smith’s brown ale.
  • It's a great beer, not cheap swill to chuck down, drink it, enjoy it, it costs more than crap beer because it's not crap beer.
  • I’m sure it’s better on draft but I’ve been enjoying it in cans (nitro) and the non nitro bottles since early 00s.

Cons

  • Old Speckled Hen is nigh undrinkable from a bottle or can.
  • I love Old Speckled Hen but it’s not worth that whatsoever, especially not at just 5%.
  • The cans are great. Bottles are not good though.
  • It's really only good as a draft anyway.
  • Its literally 15.99 for a 6 pack of bottles in my area. Dont know how much the 16 oz can 4 packs are. Thats way overpriced for what it is compared to other imports.

Personally, I love Old Speckled Hen and I’d still pick it up from time to time at that price.
