Reddit take

Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.

Pros

  • I have both bags and use the Nomatic for my personal item when traveling in SA/Europe on LCCs.
  • Nomatic is another good one if you want a cleaner look but still want hidden spots for a passport or cash.
  • Brands like Osprey, Nomatic, Patagonia, and even budget-friendly options like Amazon Basics often have models that fit the typical dimensions
  • Osprey Farpoint/Fairview, Tortuga Setout, or even some larger Nomatic options are popular for a reason.
  • I know it’s expensive but the Nomatic or Wotancraft have good reviews.

Cons

  • They look like Amazon Basics to me
  • For me it’s Nomatic (the box with the straps), any roll top (impossible to grab one thing without emptying all), and any backpack with excessive molle (ice agent cosplay)
  • Nomatic bags seems so rigid and unforgiving to me.
  • after getting my hands on stuff from like Aer, Able Carry and Pakt, I understand why some people aren’t huge fans of Nomatic. There are other brands out there using better materials for lower price points! ... Still love my Nomatic bags...
  • Which is zero stiff in Cordura. It is somewhat stiff early on, but once it is broken in it is saggy and soft and will collapse without load.

after getting my hands on stuff from like Aer, Able Carry and Pakt, I understand why some people aren’t huge fans of Nomatic. There are other brands out there using better materials for lower price points! ... Still love my Nomatic bags though! Just tough for me to recommend fully nowadays compared to 10 months ago.

Nomatic is a great bag don’t get me wrong…I travel a lot for work and leisure and has good features. It’s very durable and it comes with a lifetime warranty. The downside IMO is that it gets uncomfortable once it gets pretty heavy.
