Xterra would be equally basic
I have driven the New Xterra also they way they try to make it feel the power ( whatever the low power available) is by keeping the rpm high. So its revs to give you a feel that the vehicle is able to cope up.
Xterra is painfully underpowered and slow so Montero takes the win here imo
For 70-80k honestly speaking Xterra and Montero are better shouts. But these are ladder frame SUVs so lot of body roll and suspension bounce. (I own the Xterra so I can affirm on that)
