Reddit take

AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

The Nissan Patrol is a staple full-size SUV in the Gulf market, frequently positioned as the primary rival to the Toyota Land Cruiser. Reddit users generally prefer the Patrol for its superior interior luxury, modern creature comforts like wireless Apple CarPlay, and better overall ride comfort. While the Land Cruiser is often cited for its 'over-engineered' mechanical reputation, the Patrol is praised for offering a more 'plush' experience and maintaining excellent resale value, particularly in the UAE.

Pros

  • Superior interior quality and 'plush' materials compared to direct rivals
  • Modern technology suite, including wireless Apple CarPlay and high-quality screens
  • Strong resale value, especially within the Gulf region
  • Better driving comfort and luxury feel than the Land Cruiser
  • Widespread availability of parts and ease of servicing

Cons

  • Perception that the manufacturer is 'milking' the market with high pricing on new models
  • V6 versions are sometimes viewed as less desirable than the V8 for this size of vehicle
  • High entry price often puts it out of reach for budget-conscious buyers

Caveats

  • The debate between the Patrol and Land Cruiser is highly polarized; the LC is often favored for long-term used reliability while the Patrol is the choice for new-car features
  • Interior space comparisons are mixed, with some users finding specific competitors more spacious

Best for

  • Drivers in the UAE and Gulf region looking for high road presence
  • Buyers who prioritize interior luxury and modern infotainment over pure utility
  • Those looking for a vehicle that will hold its value well for future resale

Avoid if

  • You prefer mechanical simplicity and 'over-engineering' over modern tech features
  • You are looking for a budget-friendly SUV with low operating costs

This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older, with a median source age of approximately 312 days, which may not capture the most recent model year updates or pricing shifts in the automotive market.

Parent context: The amount of people suggesting Land Cruiser is astonishing. Atleast Patrol has modern interiors. Don’t you have any other requirement than the engine? dealership and Toyota jointly milking every one of you because of this blind faith. Reply: Currently Nissan is milking everyone here with the new Patrol

2020 Nissan Patrol = A premium leather work boot. Built like a tank, heavy, lasts decades, handles any terrain, but terrible fuel economy, dated tech, and feels clumsy in the city. High maintenance costs, but unbeatable pedigree.
