Nissan Kicks
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
The Nissan Kicks is primarily regarded as a practical city car that offers a starkly different experience depending on the trim level. While the base models are criticized for being overly basic and lacking essential features like reverse cameras, the top trims are praised for providing a premium feel with high-quality materials and advanced tech. Reliability discussions are centered on the CVT; while some users warn against it based on brand reputation, others report trouble-free ownership exceeding 140,000 kilometers.
Pros
- Premium interior materials and tech (Bose speakers, 12.3-inch monolith screens) available in top trims
- Ease of maintenance and parts availability due to shared components with other Nissan models
- Effective for city driving and basic transportation needs
- Proven longevity for some owners, with reports of 144,000+ km without issues
Cons
- Lack of rear AC vents, which is a significant drawback for passengers in hot climates
- Base models are very sparse, often lacking cloth seats or reverse cameras
- Smaller interior and cargo footprint compared to many competitors
- Persistent negative sentiment regarding the long-term reliability of the CVT
Caveats
- Opinions on the CVT are highly polarized; some users suggest avoiding it entirely, while others claim issues are overblown with proper maintenance
- The price gap between the basic entry model and the 'premium' top trim is substantial
Best for
- City commuters looking for an easy-to-park vehicle
- Buyers who want a high-tech, premium-feeling cabin in a small crossover (top trim only)
- Owners who prioritize parts availability and a long-standing service network
Avoid if
- You frequently carry passengers in the back seat during hot weather
- You need a vehicle with significant cargo space or a 'fun' driving dynamic
- You have a strong personal or mechanical aversion to CVT transmissions

Nissan Kicks
She couldn't get one of the normal considerations new so she ended up with a Nissan kicks. I hate it but she thinks it's very comfortable and easy to get into and out of.
kicks is not bad looking and is the most loved one for our demographic.
I currently have a Nissan kicks, got it brand new in 2023, and earlier this month had the transmission go out on me.
Also check out the new Nissan Kicks
I would skip the Nissan kicks altogether. The brand new one looks nicer than the older models and I’m not sure if they’ve done any upgrades.
Is Nissan Kicks reliable now, I heard lots of problems with its CVT.
kicks will have gear issues in the future Talking from experience, have flipped 3-4 nissan kicks and all of them had gear issues
Kicks is a Nissan, comes with typical brake issue, its a mini cross over
I also tried a neighbor's Nissan Kicks. It "looked" high enough off the ground. But the sides of the driver's seat has a huge "lip" on it, to the point where I would have had to do "foot first" to get into it.....whereas I am looking for vehicle like my tacoma, where I just "slide in" sideways. Easy peasy. Well, that Lip on the outer edge of the seat made that an impssiblility.
