You can do all the things you want/mention in Excel. Excel is really powerful if you learn more about it, and will be much more robust long-term as it's nearly guaranteed to be available for a very long time with how necessary it is for businesses all over the world.

SOME people have to WORK because they have a JOB and they need to use EXCEL or WORD for extended periods of TIME and have to file TAXES and cant afford to replace their oled due to BURN IN every 6 months
