BMW and Mercedes are both worth it to the people that buy and own them. My parents have had four over the last 30ish years. Keep up with routine maintenance and use premium gas, and they will drive forever. They also tend to be ahead of the curve in features, so an older bimmer or benz doesn’t feel that old compared to a non-luxury newer car.

The belt snapped on the engine (it's supposed to be replaced every 10 years or something), I parked my car on the side of the highway, called an Uber, and went skiing.
