Pros
- To be honest, I'm so happy with the MadVR processing for both tonemapping as well as black bar detection, I haven't really tried the Max's built in tonemapping. I can't imagine built in tonemapping can beat it.
- I built mine using MadVR and a capture card to process realtime to get the best tone mapping and processing and it makes the projector much closer to what you are probably looking for.
- Best IMHO is MadVR. Either through a device like Envy or in a HTPC (that’s my preference).
- Using the MadVR was a HUGE upgrade to HDR and worth every penny.
- MadVR will solve this for you, but you're not getting by cheap.
Cons
- when I fiddle with the madvr settings it seems like it really doesn't do anything to adjust picture quality. I've also just tried setting everything to max and it just slows down the video yet there's no noticeable change in quality.
- I need to use madVR on pc with upscaling to sharpen the image digitally so it looks better.
- Perhaps in the future I’ll look into the best way to use the room in terms of screen size and aspect ratio, maybe MadVR to manage it

Also, being on the last beta version of madvr helps and doubles performance, compared to the regular one available online.
personally i'm adjusting game to 2.2 and again to 2.2 in Madvr on my pc. all details are perfectly visible and blacks are maintained
