Pros

  • Just bought one of the Lost Horizon mats. I can't compare the two, but the brand gets strong reviews.
  • We have one of each and prefer the Lost Horizon’s valves (unless Megamat has redesigned theirs since we got it a few years ago). Can’t tell a difference in how well they insulate or feel when laying on them (maybe we don’t camp cold eno...
  • We returned our MegaMat for a Lost Horizon. The difference, for us, were minor and the savings were major.
  • Getting 85% of the performance for half the cost of the Megamat makes the LH a good budget but.
  • My mom has a lost horizon that I’ve used several nights too. I think they are comparable. I think the LH even has a higher R rating than the exped.

Cons

  • Comfortwise I was impressed by the lost horizon. 60 deg nights, it was great. On a 50 degree night, it was cold.
  • I have the Lost Horizon, was thinking about returning it for this since it's so similar

We have one of each and prefer the Lost Horizon’s valves (unless Megamat has redesigned theirs since we got it a few years ago). Can’t tell a difference in how well they insulate or feel when laying on them (maybe we don’t camp cold enough) and I don’t feel like the LH quality is bad. If I were to buy another mattress, I would get another LH.

For car camping or shorter trips the comfort difference is honestly small, and the Horizon packs noticeably smaller -- which matters way more than R-value for 3-season use. If you're not regularly below freezing I'd try one before writing it off.
