Last Days (Brian Evenson)

Pros

• About a year ago i read Last Days by Brian Evenson and it's stuck with me since then.
• I loved it, it spiralled so beautifully 😅 The Pauls were so cute😆❤️ It’s one of the few books I really want to reread 🥳 The dialogs were so good too!
• I thought it was amazing. I don’t understand why e terrine hates on Adam Neville.
• Brian Evenson Last Days was wild. The most unique cult you'll come across 😁
• Not a slow burner, but Last Days by Brian Evenson is fucked up 😅 In a good way!

Cons

• Just finished Last Days by Brian Evenson and I am a bit disappointed by the protagonist. Though I enjoyed the story and found it unsettling enough, I did not particularly vibe with Kline.
• The army of Pauls was so goofy, it felt like something straight out of Monty Python. And the Rambo kill streak for a climax was just plain lazy.
• He should've left the first half a novella, instead of adding a much weaker second part years later. The first part was decent enough by itself, with a pretty cool ending.
• Yeah, I wasn’t really impressed by this one either. I haven’t had the best of luck reading Evenson’s original works
• The plot idea is fantastic, I was sucked in immediately. ... THE SECOND HALF⁉️ What on God’s green fucking earth happened? The plot fell over, it was so confusing even after a reread, taking the random Pauls thing and rolling with it. Th...
