Pros

  • Think house brand like Husky at Home Depot, Kobalt at Lowes, Pittsburgh at Harbor Freight.
  • We got the gold mine last year at Lowe’s I got that same deal for $139 on the 12pt then $99 for the master 6pt then 99 again for the master bit set. All Kobalt.
  • I feel like the Kobalt set is the best bet of these 3. They all have their fair share of filler parts. The Kobalt ratchets are the best of the 3 of these IMHO.
  • I put Kobalt solidly above Ryobi and Craftsman and no it's not Dewalt or Milwaukee but for the price and warranty sits nicely for heavy DIY users or entry level commercial.
  • Most of my sockets and wrenches are kobalt, I’ve had good luck out of them for what I use them for. Small to large engine repair, tractors, construction equipment etc.

Cons

  • For a while now though I've just been rocking an old kobalt set and then buying tekton singles of something I don't have.
  • Avoid Kobalt (Lowe’s brand) like the plague. I had so many problems with them.
  • The most common 3 I’m seeing is Husky, Kobalt, and the tiktok praised Vevor 450 piece set that’s $30 more. Now I’ll spend the $30 if the 100+ piece advantage is worth it.
  • Thanks, i also see the Kobalt ones have “diamond tip” ends.
  • The only thing they have over my existing ratcheting wrenches (a mix of Gearwrench, Kobalt, and SBD Craftsman) is the fact they're reversible for tight spaces.

Kobalt tools a bit better because the battery last a bit longer.

Craftsman and kobalt both make kits that are smaller than the Milwaukee.

I have an old Kobalt that feels like a brick and could drill through a house with a large enough bit when I need it.
