Kia Soul

Pros

• Kia souls are one of the more reliable kias actually. They aren't what gave kia a bad name.
• The Kia Soul is actually decent to drive, my mom has one …but she barley drives hers and is religious about the maintenance so I’m not sure she’s had major issues
• The 5th gen Elantra has a very reliable 2.0, it's the same one used in the Kia Soul.
• The soul is actually the only good car that they make.
• I would try a Ford Edge, Mazda cx-7/9, Honda Pilot (Can be pricey though), Ford Escape, Kia Soul, Toyota Rav, Lexus Rx, Honda CRV

Cons

• I have the car and it does consume oil like water and I had to replace the exhaust manifold only at 100k miles too not even 150k
• They have a weak timing chain and every last one of them has oil consumption issues. We replace engines in these more then any other car.
• Absolutely not do not buy this car. Ive sold used cars for almost 20 years. I'll turn down the commission and refuse to sell these cars just to avoid angry people.
• As a mechanic please avoid this car. I've seen Kia/Hyundai hurt too many people to recommend one even in great shape. I even like the way those souls drive, but they are not very reliable. And when they do break it's normally not cheap (...
• That would be my worry as well (just replaced a cat in a Kia Soul that had a new engine put in under warranty).
