K2 Excavator

As for pow boards; I've really enjoyed the K2 excavator and Nitro Squash the past few seasons.

An Excavator is my 80% daily. I ride it less in spring when sl it slushy, have another board for that. The K2 is just a beast, crazy fun in powder, great in trees, keep your edge sharp and should be fine in ice.

Parent context: I see you ride at Bogus too, also my home mountain. How’s it hold up on the icy days Reply: Pretty solidly. I’m not a huge ice-riding guy, so I don’t have a great frame of reference for *how* good it is, but it never once came out from under me last year, and I don’t recall any days where I was really fighting to keep it locked in.

I picked up an Excavator early last season and it pretty much instantly became my daily driver. It’s *awesome* in pow, and I had no trouble at all in getting it to carve, even in my soft work boots.

K2 Excavator is great for pow and carves well on the groomed.

but for powder I ride a k2 excavator

I ride an k2 excavator in Ontario and it’s amazing. I’m 40 and used to ride park quite well. It’s the most amazing thing ever… you’re going to shit your pants I’ve never felt a carve sooooo good on my heels.

The excavator can charge just fine. ESPECIALLY if you are used to a 15 year old board. It’s going to feel amazing in comparison

Parent context: Have you demo’d the board or pull the trigger without first trying? I have one, it’s a blast. Sold as a powder board but does well in nearly all conditions, long as you aren’t concerned about bombing runs. I love messing around in the trees, moguls, and side hits with it. Reply: I have this board in a 154 (220lbs, 11.5 boot, union force bindings). Really enjoy it in low angle pow, great sidecut for turning and pretty stable at high speeds on good condition groomers. Haven’t had it on a deep day yet. Nose butters real nice.
