• The Grand Cherokee is more than capable of light dune bashing, and with some bigger tires and an onboard inflator, it definitely can handle the desert easily.
• Reliable however I miss the stick shift over the dial !
• And my Jeep Grand Cherokee will be paid off next year. I bought it new in 2019. It only has 57k miles on it. I’m so happy it’ll be paid off shortly.
• I think the last gen Jeep Grand Cherokee fits most of your requirements, but I'm not entirely sure if it had auto brake assist.

Cons

• A 60k mile Toyota Rav4 might sell for the same price as a 30k mile Jeep Grand Cherokee that is 3 years newer, but for an owner who will keep the car for 8 to 10 years, and is mostly concerned about reliability, the Rav4 is almost certain...
• The grand Cherokee is probably the least trash if you get the 3.6L v6 but still bad.
• As for the Jeep if it’s a facelift model they tend to have some issues with the electrical systems. However, the engine and transmission are solid if they’ve been properly maintained (atf oil, filters etc).
• Frequent repairs, matter of time till the suspension keeps going bad and always has issues, better to look at japanese alternatives..
• A family friend had one, says its his worst financial mistake, Car drives okay but drains your wallet and has no resale value, but if you those arent deal breakers for you go for it!
