Later on I’ll probably buy a proper high-end pack like an Osprey or Gregory once I’m more experienced and know exactly what I like.

I would go with Osprey instead of Gregory. Osprey has always honored warranty issues for me. Gregory has not.
They're both really great brands and make very good backpacks. I had a huge Gregory pack once upon a time when I first started backpacking and I loved that thing.
