• There are plenty of free online German placement tests that will give you a baseline (dw.com, Goethe, Telc all offer them).
• I highly recommend taking a placement test with [goethe.de](http://goethe.de) and then signing up for their group classes that meet once a week via zoom and then also give you a bit of homework to do.
• Iam in goethe and I love it and I like to recommend it to you . the teachers are the best and the teaching is professional the ways they teach are very effective and good .
• Before moving to Germany, I completed A1 and A2 from Goethe in my home country. I had 98+ score on the official exams as well.

Cons

• the reason usually given for the different levels asked for is that Goethe does not have an exam that specifically targets academic language, like telc does (the Hochschule one that is accepted for Uni entrance).
• Goethe is very solid but its ubfortunate how expensive all versions are.
• Obviously Goethe is one option but I do see others.
• not goethe cause it to expensive for me .
• I have visited Goethe for some years - don’t bother.
