Pros

  • everything else felt top-notch to me. But I went last November when it was maybe a little quieter?
  • I loved Gleneagles and had a fabulous time there. The food was great for us too🤷🏻‍♀️. ... The breakfast buffet was fabulous and we had great food at both The Strathern and the 2 Michelin starred Restaurant Andrew Fairlie.
  • I think the breakfast buffet is also really impressive, I have only had better in Asia. ... I’m not sure there is a better hotel in the UK honestly.
  • I had a lovely time there. Room was gorgeous and I loved the activities.
  • Gleneagles. Our kids talk about it to this day and it’s been 4 years. They LOVED driving the Argocats through the mud pits.

Cons

  • We went to Gleneagles with our kids last summer. It was incredibly crowded, but beautiful. ... I wouldn't say we had a bad time, but I expected something really special and personal, which is not Gleneagles.
  • Was there a month ago. Our room had no issues but the food was subpar. Given the hotel size, we were just a number. Not much of a personal touch.
  • Everything was subpar. The food was okay not wonderful and took forever to get served. Coffee in the morning could take 15 plus minutes for a brewed cup. Room had lots of maintenance issues (told due to a 125 year old building etc) but a...
  • I did Gleneagles last Christmas. It’s got great activities and a lovely spa but I found it was more of a family/couples crowd. It may be a different vibe in summer though.
  • Definitely safe, very stylish, and a beautiful setting It comes to mind because they have so many activities beyond the normal resort stuff: clay pigeon shooting, falconry, stuff with dogs, off roading in land rovers, in addition to hik...

Everything was subpar. The food was okay not wonderful and took forever to get served. Coffee in the morning could take 15 plus minutes for a brewed cup. Room had lots of maintenance issues (told due to a 125 year old building etc) but again for the price one would think that stuff would be sorted. Maybe my expectations were too high but overall it was a disappointment and we will not be returning.

At Gleneagles now (night three) and I can’t imagine having left after only two days. We are here a week and have a pretty solid schedule the entire time — and that’s without golf.

Just to be clear, there are alot of activities other than golf. Our group of non-golfers still use Gleneagles as the standard of a great hotel.
